Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book my first lesson?

Please email us or call us for lesson availability and scheduling.

What times are lessons available?

Drum lessons are available between 13:00 and 21:00, Monday to Friday.

What makes you qualified enough to teach me?

All of our team either hold a degree in music performance/education, or have already been teaching for a number of years.

Are all of your teachers DBS checked?

All of our teachers hold a current enhanced DBS certificate.

What is the minimum recommended age to start lessons?

We feel that 5 years old is a good age to begin lessons. We begin by introducing the student to rhythm

using arts & craft, and then slowly introducing real instruments.

What is the maximum recommended age to start lessons?

There’s no such thing. All that matters is that you enjoy the lessons.

I’ve been playing for a while now. Do I really need lessons?

There is always an aspect of our playing that could be improved.

By booking a series of lessons with us, you are making an investment in yourself.

Could I just use YouTube to learn to play the drums?

Nothing can take the place of a student interacting face-to-face with a teacher.

Do I need a drum kit?

The first few lessons could easily be covered on a practise pad, but over time you will want

to look at investing in a basic drum kit.

Acoustic Drums or Electronic Drums?

If you live in close proximity to your neighbours, then we would recommend electric drums,

but acoustic drums are always going to be way more fun.

Do you have any partnerships with local drum shops?

Yes. We recommend the Drums and Percussion Centre in Mayford Green, Woking, GU22 0PP.

How important are private lessons for my children?

According to a study by the ABRSM, 36% of children receive one-to-one music lessons in the UK. Learning the drums strengthens your academic ability. Most importantly, it's a lot of fun!

Do you do gift vouchers for lessons?

Yes! Just ping us an email and we'll get back to you.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash or an online transfer.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

All cancelled lessons must be paid for, unless you are within the one month trial period, and there is no notice of cancellation.

What academic standards do you use?

We use the Trinity Guildhall curriculum for all of our exams. Details of which can be found online.

Could you teach more than one student during the same one-to-one lesson?

Students may share the lesson time, although space and teacher limitations can make

scheduling for shared lessons difficult.

Can we subscribe to both private and group lessons?

Yes. Taking both learning streams would benefit the student greatly.

Can we still use your services if we live outside of your recommended area?

Yes. Please email us to discuss whether we can help you.
